Virgil Flowers will have to watch his back--and his mouth--as he investigates a college culture war turned deadly in another one of Sandford's "madly entertaining Virgil Flowers mysteries" (New York Times Book Review).

At the local state university, two feuding departments have faced off on the battleground of science and medicine. Each carries their views to extremes that may seem absurd, but highly educated people of sound mind and good intentions can reasonably disagree, right?

Then a renowned and confrontational scholar winds up dead, and Virgil Flowers is brought in to investigate . . . and as he probes the recent ideological unrest, he soon comes to realize he's dealing with people who, on this one particular issue, are functionally crazy. Among this group of wildly impassioned, diametrically opposed zealots lurks a killer, and it will be up to Virgil to sort the murderer from the mere maniacs.

This latest Sanford effort is outstanding! Once I started, I couldn’t put it down. The plot is excellent and the characters - both old and new - were interesting and engaging. At times, it made me laugh and other times cry. You really want to believe there are people like Virgil Flowers in this world. I highly recommend this book. It is an excellent read.

Just a poorly written book with a silly plot. Who knows who the ghost writers were? Their vocabulary may be limited. They used sex and off-color language when they were at a loss for words.By nodefinition could this book be called a work of literature.

A great read from Sanford as usual. Could not put it down.
  • Always convoluted with multiple avenues.

However, Sanford always gets it right in the end. Love this character and hope Virgil will be around awhile.

I have been a fan of Virgil Flowers since he first showed up in the Prey series. He's funny, he's fierce, he draws all the ladies in. Bloody Genius started off very slow but once I hit 70%, it was like pedal to the metal suspense. There were a few too many people and subplots in this installment so I found myself skimming some parts to get to the good stuff. The best part of this book was Trane. I need her to show up in some more of Sandford's books because she. is. awesome!! As always, I love Virgil's humor and one-liners. I can't wait to see what kind of craziness he can get into next.
  • I dunno, man

This felt like it was story by Sanford, actual writing by someone else.
